My Guiding Light
A poem by Lynda Dyer
My guiding Light I lay on my bed last night
The warmth of air upon me
A beam of light came from the sky
And shone right then right through me
The light moved up my body
Like a blanket of love and warmth
A smile came upon my face
This moment I will keep ‘till dawn
I awoke all energised
My batteries recharged to go
I walked the streets with
Thoughts of how the light gave me the know
Then tears came rolling down my face
I realised at that time
The light that shone all over me
Was mum’s inspirational sign
“Love your work with all your heart
This union is for you
You’ll continue to inspire more
I’ll be here when you do
I’ll watch each move and send you love
Your purpose always clear
To move the world with love and grace
You do a “great job dear”
It’s time for you to love and live
For you have worked so hard
My gift to you is guidance now
To put your pen to card
Like all your brothers and sisters
You were born a special child
Your love of life and mankind
Will shine from you in style
So take this light, this love you share
And next time moonbeams strike
You’ll know I’m not so far away
I will always help you write
Our stories are what people need
To show what they can do
Across the globe you’ll reach them all
Your now not one…but two
Go with my un-devoted love
You know you have a gift
Your happy humorous way with words
Will inspire, move and lift
My light will always shine on you
As it will for all the others
Go make a difference in this world
For your sisters and your brothers.
For writing was a dream of mine
But very rarely done
Through you I’ll write my words of love
We’ll write like we were one
I am so very happy
For the new love in your life
Enjoy this journey with your work
I’ll be your guiding light”
