Embracing Change
I wrote to you last time about “Why People take on a coach......to get through the need for change”. I wanted to continue with that article as Change in Small Business is imperative in today’s society or we go bust if we ignore it. It does not mean we have to know how to make all the changes. It simply means we recognise that change must happen and we attract to us the people we require to assist us grow our business.
A great way to do that is to look at the business every month. And on this day say to yourself and your team “What is Working” then list these points that come up. Then say “What is NOT Working” and discuss these points with a view of:
- Doing the task better
- Outsourcing the task
- Letting that component of the business go because it no longer serves your clients or you.
This is where you get to see that CHANGE can be easy when there is a plan for change and you are not alone. This is also where the coach can assist you through the process, especially looking at profiles of people you may like to hire or the “letting go” bit.
Dale Beaumont continued his talk by mentioning that we need to “flick on the switch inside of us to manage and cope with the change”
Some of the key points he and others have made include:
Relationship Marketing: It is 10 times easier to market to people you already know. Build the relationships over time. Spend the time to get to know people.
Embrace the New Technology in Your Business: There are so many new and exciting options for you to look at to save you time and money. Some of those suggested were;
- JING You can video your communications and talk to the emails and send them back with your advice. This is a FREE Service for the first 9 videos then only $9 per month.
- OFFICE AUTO PILOT – SPLIT TESTING You can test 4 different subject lines on the same email. This system calculates which heading gets the highest open rate. This way the market decides what they will open rather than you.
- LEED SCORING If someone opts in and sends a person to your sight they get points. As soon as they get 50 points you then know they are worthy of a phone call from you.
Outsourcing: People all over the world can handle your business for a very inexpensive rate. As they help you build your business you can then employ more Australians to work in the business as well so it can be a win/win. I felt that when I began my small business I needed to know how to do it all. Now I am convinced that outsourcing is definitely the way to go. Everyone wins.
Embracing Video: If you are camera shy...get over it. Put your ego in your pocket and get someone to film you sharing your knowledge. UTUBE is the 2nd largest search engine for information and it beats google for where people go to find you.
Use Facebook: If you want to market successfully you have to market where the people are. You can target adds to people who want what you are selling. I recently outsourced and hired a lady who does this for me. Now its fun rather than trepidation for us baby boomers.
What do you want to CHANGE in your business?
